Excercise 1 (DE1): from points to lines (24min+10min Tips&Tricks)

Introduction

Basic setup: Units cm, grid 1 (3)cm

Drawing point in absolute mode to the origin: 3,0

Drawing point in relative mode to the selected object: @3,0

Drawing in distance and direction with “SmartTrack”

CMD “Copy” line of points in Y and Z direction

Use CMD “array” instead to do everything in one go;-)

Create layer for points and add points to layer.

Change layer color for better orientation and swith of basic grid with CMD “Grid”.

Save file on a regular basis with different filenames (…01, 02, 03) and setup Autosave.

Create new layer for your design and set layer to active. Extrude line out of point with “Gumball”. Join and explode line.

Draw polyline with more segments. You can´t join closed lines!

CMD Undo drawing lines.

Switch of Point layers for better orientation.

Change from rigid curve to freeform curve with CMD “ChangeDegree”. Degree 1 = rigid, Degree < 1 = freeform curve.

Draw control point curve with degree > 1.

CMD Mirror curves.

“Menue Solid/Pipe” to give curve thickness (radius).

Rendering: Change viewport to rendering. Capture viewport and save file.

3d printing: save as .STL or .OBJ file.

CMD “Fillet”, CMD “FilletCorners”: Fillet sharp corners for better results (pipe/Sweep/3d printing)

Lock Layer with control points!

CMD “changeDegree”: change degree of curve to create more control points for design.

Fix mistakes/issues with pipe or curve (delete and renew segments of pipe).

CMD “Sweep1”: use different/several section for 3d section of your curve. “Orient perpendicular to curce” to adjust section shape to rail. Be aware of Flip direction!

Best solution: 3 none joined and filleted curces. Add sphere with Snap: Center + Narrow
