Unfolding of 3d models for lasercutting with Pepakura from Max Witkop

Import 3d-model into “Pepakura Designer”:

• rotate/flip 3d-model
• check and set scale (!)

Pepakura menue:

• Pick edges
• Specify cutline edges
• Edit 3d-modell

Unfold and edit unfold:

• define papersize (750 x 450mm)
• turn, move and rotate parts
• Join/disjoin faces to adjust your layout
• Edit flaps
• Edit colors of edges and apply to 3d modell

How to organize parts in Pepakura Designer for efficient assembly.

More usefull commands:

• check overlapping parts
• Show edge IDs and adjust size
• Add textures

Export as DXF-file

Prepare for lasercutting:

• set 4 layer for: cut line (red), valley line (green), mountain line (blue), text
• Select and apply line-colour to layer
• Apply right contour colors for lasercutting: red (cut), blue (engrave), black (raster)
• Set contour line thickness to 0.1 and line type (dotted lines)
• Adjust to dotted line (Units = mm)
• object transparancy to 100set
• Save as Illustrator 6.0

Use “Pepakura Viewer” on your laptop for assembly.
